Notice to the CCC's Extended Community

in the wake of the COVID-19 Outbreak

We Are In It Together!

At the Chinese Culture Connection, during the global COVID-19 pandemic, we have taken precautions to ensure the safety of our staff, families, and the greater community by temporarily suspending all of our face-to-face programs and services. We are redirecting our energy to gather resources needed to support efforts to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 in our community.  We are offering online programs to support the families and the children to keep up with some interactive learning activities during the social distancing and school closure period.

Additionally, our Annual Fundraising Gala has been postponed until further notice. Please go to our Gala page for additional details.

In response to the growing COVID-19 related discrimination instances toward Asian Americans and the overall impact on all of us, the Chinese Culture Connection, along with MATV, the City of Malden, the Gallery@57, Namaste Malden, and Malden River Works, would like to express solidarity and support to the Malden community with a short video. This video, “We Are In This Together!”, affirms the difficulties we all face to varying degrees and reassure our community that together we can resist blaming others, face fear, and address feelings of overwhelm and hopelessness. Together we can get through this! Special thanks to the generous support of the Nellie Mae Education Foundation. Please click Here to watch the video or find it at the sidebar of this page.

We are also working on creating programs and activities to engage our students and families that will help address the stresses associated with the current situation, as well as to provide some constructive and fun learning opportunities for the children we serve through virtual classes and/or video interfacing classrooms. Supported by Nellie Mae Education Foundation, we are now providing students a series of four-week free online daily classes. The classes are scheduled for every weekday from 2 PM to 4 PM at Microsoft Teams meeting. Please check Here for more class information.

During the last couple of weeks, we have been working with the City of Malden and the entire Chinese community in the Greater Boston to help address the shortage of protective masks at local hospitals. We have created a donation station at the Malden Senior Center to gather over-stocked masks and any protective gear that the healthcare providers can use. We have collected over 6 thousand masks in the past few weeks and delivered them to the hospitals nearby Malden, including Cambridge Health Alliance, Wakefiled Melrose Hospital, Boston Medical Hospital, and the City of Malden Police and Fire Stations as well as the Malden Neighbors Helps Neighbors, etc.

Moreover, we have worked with Chinatown nonprofit organizations to offer COVID-19 related information and government support that our community may need. Check links below for more information.
