150 Dancers / Colorful Costumes / Exquisite Dance Movement

The Chinese Culture Connection of Malden is very proud to sponsor the 2008 Greater Boston Dance Extravaganza. More than 150 beautifully costumed dancers will be featured in two performances of the “2008 Greater Boston Dance Celebration” on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 1:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Fine Art Center of Regis College in Weston, MA.

Hosted by the Angel Performance Art Company of Weston (MA) and), the program will showcase 12 different dance groups presenting a variety of dances from across the world, and will feature adult, youth and children dancers from the local Massachusetts communities of Acton, Andover, Belmont, Boxborough, Lexington, Newton, Wellesley, Westborough, Westford, Weston, as well as dancers from New Hampshire.

"We are very proud and honored to able to sponsor this event. We like to see collaborations among all groups. The production is more powerful, less work for each group and everyone gets credit. Besides the audience gets to see a spetacular presentation in one sitting. I think it is a win/win situation." Said Mei Hung, Executive Director of Chinese Culture Connection.

Featured performances by the Angel Dance Troupe of Weston (MA) will present colorful and intricate dances representing many parts of China, Tibet, Mongolia and Korea. Other performers will include the Xiangtu Dance Troupe; Dance Revelasian; Huazi Dance Troupe; Greater Boston Chinese Cultural Association (GBCCA) Melody Dance Troupe; Dongfang Dance Troupe; and Huaxia Dance Troupe.

Appearing for the first time in this annual dance celebration will be: Commonwealth Ballet Company; Walker’s Dance Troupe (TOWN) featuring jazz dancing; American Chinese Art Society Traditional Chinese Dance Troupe; Sunshine Dance Troupe; and Mulan Dance Troupe.

"We are excited this year to offer such exquisite and colorful dance movements from so many parts of the world, and we invite families from all the area towns to join us for this international dance celebration," said Ms. Ke Ke, Director of the Angel Dance Troupe and the Angel Performance Art Company and the organizer of this event.

Ms. Ke Ke is a talented Boston-area choreographer who instructs several local area dance groups in Chinese classical, contemporary, ethnic, and folk dancing for students of all ages.
